In this workshop, ecological artist Paige Emery will guide participants through remediation practices for the body and the land by exploring processes that extract toxins and pollutants. Topics to be covered will include the basics of soil bioremediation and soil testing, the related effects of stress on the body, the effects of air pollution on our respiratory systems, and an introduction to working with plants that aid in de-stressing, detoxification, and support respiratory health.

Companion themes will focus on winter as a time for rest, reflection, and rejuvenation.

Tending Ecologies is a workshop series about caring for the land around us and the landscape of our bodies. The health of our bodies and the health of the Earth are inextricably intertwined, which has been forgotten in many ways due to colonization severing this connection. Each session engages with ideas of release, nourishment, attention, and renewal in resonance with Earthly cycles and practices of bioremediation, bioregional herbalism, ethnobotany, ecological art and sound, and healing arts.
