Collective Altadena is an independent initiative dedicated to restoring solace and stability to families affected by the Eaton Fire by supporting them through the challenging process of refurnishing their homes and lives with intention. As a group of craftspeople, arts professionals and designers with networks willing and able to contribute resources, Collective will interview a select group of families about their hopes for their new spaces (both stylistically and materially), then manage the logistics required to provide furniture and household items in kind. Additionally, they will be working with local craftspeople to create new interpretations of special lost keepsakes that had emotional resonance, engaging the arts community in Los Angeles directly with survivors. Committed to a holistic, long-term approach to ongoing care, Collective aims to emphasize direct conversation between those in need and those with resources, thereby humanizing the rebuild process rather than relying on a one-size-fi ts-all model.
