Mojave Project Field Trip

October 12—14, 2018

Take a three-day field trip deep into the heart of the California Desert with the The Mojave Project and LACE. Free event is limited to 40 participants traveling together on a professionally driven charter tour bus.

Visit the old gold mining district of Randsburg. Collect mineral specimens at Gem-O-Rama in Trona. Visit select sites in Timbisha (better known as Death Valley.) Stargaze from Rhyolite. Head over to the former silver mining district of Darwin and hang with local artists. Along the way, speak with notable desert denizens including retired Randsburg mine metallurgist Ordinary Tom, Timbisha Shoshone elder, Barbara Durham among others.

This immersive tour coincides with the exhibition of The Mojave Project at LACE (Los Angeles Contemporary Exhibitions) on view September 15 – November 18, 2018. Stay tuned for more related events!

Field Trip Costs
Free – Mojave Project Bus Tour for registered participants – limited space!
$75 – Non-refundable deposit per person (covers lunches and snacks)
$250 – Estimate for lodging/breakfast for 2 nights and non-host dinners
