Lollieworks under the direction of Lindsey Lollie is a platform for the creation of innovative, experimental dance works, collaboration and teaching. The main project for 2020 includes the Los Angeles premier of Wind Down, an evening length dance piece that is entering its second year in process. Wind Down is a dance work utilizing giant electric fans that propel wind into the space as the dancers move in and out of its turbulent but also blissful and mesmerizing force. The project includes four electric fans, two musicians and six dancers (myself included). The completion of this work will coincide with workshops and opportunities for the community to see the rehearsal process as the work is being finished. Excerpts of Wind Down have been shown at various venues in its earliest stages, including Redcat Studio and LA Dance Festival. Parallel to the development of this work is Lollie’s development as a teacher. With eight years of teaching experience to all ages and all levels, Lollie plans to continue teaching and offer classes to homeless shelters, recuperating centers and yoga studios in Los Angeles. Making and teaching dance has always been a healing process as well as a creative endeavor for Lollie. She will pursue grants and residencies that will allow for the development of her work as a choreographer and her work as a movement/yoga teacher. Lollieworks aims to receive support for herself and her collaborators through fundraising, grants, residencies and subsidized rehearsal space.
