Lollieworks under the direction of Lindsey Lollie is a platform for the development of contemporary dance works, collaboration and teaching.  The main project for 2020 includes the Los Angeles premier of Wind Down, an evening length dance piece in its second year in process.  Wind Down is a piece that integrates wind, bodies and live sound, reflecting the energetic journey of overwhelm, resistance and surrender between the body and its co-existing environment.  As giant electric fans accumulate in the space, an ensemble of wind dancers create a shape shifting landscape, moving in and out of the airstream.  The development of this work will coincide with dance classes and opportunities for the community to see the rehearsal process as the work is being finished.  Excerpts of Wind Down have been shown at various venues in its earliest stages, including Redcat Studio and LA Dance Festival.  Parallel to the development of this work is Lollie’s outreach as a teacher.   Making and teaching dance has always been a creative endeavor as well as a healing practice for Lollie.  She will pursue grants and residencies that will allow for the development of her choreography alongside her dance and yoga teaching.  Lollie currently teaches for Renaissance Arts Academy, The National Health Foundation and szalt dance co.  Lollieworks aims to receive support for herself and her collaborators through fundraising, grants, residencies and subsidized rehearsal space.   This project is also supported by szalt dance co, led by artistic director Stephanie Zaletel in Los Angeles.
