About

The Chalke Valley History Festival Pasadena aims to inspire, enthrall and entertain about the past. Through a unique mix of immersive living history entertainment and high quality literary talks and panels, it aims to promote the importance, understanding and enjoyment of history, in its broadest definition, to the widest possible audience of all ages, but particularly children.

The concept started eight years ago as the Chalke Valley History Festival in rural Wiltshire in the UK, and has fast become the largest event dedicated to history in Europe with 25,000 attendees annually. Our goal is to grow and build an annual event in Pasadena focusing on the history of California and the West, US history and International themes.

We believe passionately that it is vital for people of all ages to learn about the past in order to understand how it is has shaped our modern world and to look to the future with a knowledge of the experience of past generations and the lessons of history.

The UK parent festival includes a three day Festival for Schools which brings over 2500 children to the festival for special programming based on their school curriculum. The CVHFP aims to add schools focused days in our second year. Additional longer term goals are to use proceeds from the festival to fund a digital library of presentations for sc
